30th June

I went for a walk along the river this evening. At the railway bridge I sat and admired the view. The sun was at such an angle that the roof above me was almost as bright and sparkling as the water below. Added to the trees in the background, I'm quite pleased with this unusual landscape.

29th June

At a birthday party in the garden today. The weather was beautiful and everyone was sat outside. As I photographed the guests, I also spotted a large bumble bee enjoying the fine day.

28th June

This was a very busy day. I was tired. And completely uninspired. I do like geometric patterns but even that is tenuous. Sorry.

27th June

Having been out for dinner the other night, I was reminded how much I enjoyed fresh mint tea. Therefore, the other new addition to our small nursery is a mint plant. It''s getting rather leafy, pleasingly, and produced an interesting view this evening.

26th June

We have further flowers in the house. This was a particularly large bunch and the orchids had very shiny stamens. I'd hoped to capture this here, but I think I certainly got the splendour of the flower.

25th June

Looking out of the window at work today I noticed the shadow of the top of the building being cast onto the grass outside. Frankly, the sun faded a bit whilst I grabbed my camera, but I think that the effect is still visible.

24th June

I wandered down the road again today and found some horses grazing in a field by the road. After a while, one finally posed for me...

23rd June

No prizes for guessing what kind of event I was at today...

22nd June

I took this photo late on in the evening. It's definitely the middle of June! Maybe someone needs to tell the streetside lights...

21st June

So, if the melon photo from a few days ago wasn't exciting enough, here's part two of the series!

20th June

I was trying to work with the light and dark of a staircase at work today. This is the best I could do - you can see the staircase itself but also the inviting blue sky through the open window.

19th June

I like to wander down by the river and this evening I came across a spot where the river was flowing quite rapidly and in unusual directions. This long exposure picked it up nicely and this is one of my favourites of the photos that I've taken recently.

18th June

Another interesting sky tonight, a light shade of pink, so I took a quick shot before it faded.

17th June

OK, so there's nothing to take a photo of in the flat any more. In desperation today I ended up trying to take an interesting close-up of a melon. Judge for yourself how interesting it is...

16th June

I went for a walk today. In the meadow I came across the cows that graze over there. I've always avoided them before but they seemed keen to pose for a shot so I took one.

15th June

When desperate, my go-to move is to take a photo of whatever flowers are on display here at home. Here's one of the most recent.

14th June

We're not at the activity centre today. As it happened, we were this morning but then we tidied up, packed a bus (eventually) and then travelled the long distance to get home.

When I got home I was really tired. Good job I'd been practising with exposures on the bus on the way home to see if I could take a landscape shot whilst moving at 50mph. It turns out that I can!

13th June

This activity centre near Torquay is in a really scenic location. Today, the clouds and the rain went away and we actually got to see the scenery...

There's a bay out there somewhere!

12th June

I took a lot of photos today. I'm at an activity centre, in charge of a bunch of school children. Some of them are fantastic. However, I'm not allowed to post their photos here, so sadly today's blog post will have no photo. I took some. I'm still stubbornly persisting with this slightly zany project. However, I can't post them.

Oh well...

11th June

I spent the whole today outside in mist and rain. It was not a nice day to be outside. At all. But especially for taking photos. Today's landscape illustrates just how disgusting the day was...

10th June

Today, I travelled with work all the way to Devon. Then we unpacked, ate and did a lot of other stuff. Finally, when I was almost in my pyjamas, I remembered that I hadn't taken a photo so I took this nighttime view towards Torquay. Not very happy, but it's all that time allowed...

9th June

We went out today and travelled all the way to London. The camera came with us. Then, about 300m from our house I took this photo on the way home. Still, it's an unusual-looking sunset.

8th June

In a rush late this evening, I took this photo of a street light outside our flat: I like how it seems to be floating in the air.

Saturday 8 June 2013

7th June

There is almost nothing left to take a photo of at home and I've resorted to unusual views. Having said that, I quite like this shot looking down from our window. I think...

6th June

I popped out this evening and took some shots on a local Common. I'm quite happy how this turned out with a view along the path and the lady walking off into the distance.

5th June

Following yesterday's close-up shot, I continued with this weeks 'theme'. Not so interesting today perhaps...

4th June

The orchid is growing new flowers still. Today I tested how close up my lens would let me go.

Not bad. I think I still need to work on focal lengths and technique.

3rd June

Another very pleasant evening today. The streak of clouds across the late evening sky highlighted the effects of the sunset with some great purples.

2nd June

I went for another walk on the nearby meadows again this afternoon. The sun was out and the views were beautiful. I was particularly pleased with this shot.

This is a lovely spot. However, I'm not really sure why there's a stile here - the only thing on the other side of it is a river!

1st June

Following lots of cold weather and rain, and a recurring knee injury, I've finally been going out on my bike. I really like going out on the bike - the sense of freedom, the feeling of speed and the challenge of conquering the steep hills round here. I also discovered this evening that the bike can make a good photo subject. The background wasn't perfect today - I don't have much space in which to keep the bike (hopefully we will soon) but this wasn't too bad.
