31st May

I had a day out in London today and walked past and across Tower Bridge. I finally managed to find an angle without any tourists taking photos in the shot (after two French people had walked into me quite hard...) and got a photo of the bridge which I'm happy with. Lovely day too!

30th May

I've finally been a bit more creative with my photos this week. I enjoyed experimenting with various settings and I'm quite happy with this result today.

29th May

You'd have thought that I'd be taking better photos this week, but I've actually been quite busy. I reverted to the view from the window again today - an interesting range of colours and subjects.

28th May

Our flowering cactus is not flowering. However, it is growing extra leaves. Or whatever they're called on a cactus... Today's shot was of one of the new 'leaves'.

27th May

I'm not at work this week so you'd have thought that I'd have time to take some photos. Unfortunately, I didn't get round to it today - hence this shot of our hob. Sorry.

26th May

It was a lovely day today so I went for a walk in the afternoon sun. I took photos of a number of interesting views but my favourite moment was when I stumbled across this very content-looking little bird. It was remarkably trusting and I managed to get quite close, taking photos all the while, before I pushed it too far and it flew off.

25th May

Our orchid is growing new flowers and so this evening I took a shot of our most recent flower, against the backdrop of a lit-up evening in the car park outside.

24th May

I got into my car this evening to drive home from work. It had been parked underneath a tree dropping buds and catkins and the weather had been rainy and windy, hence this unusual view.

23rd May

A very long and busy day today meant that I got home very late and was needed to take a quick shot before I went to bed. I've taken a similar view before but this one is in the dry. I also quite like the 'halo' effect that the double-glazed window between the camera and the view has created...

22nd May

I was looking around the flat this evening for a subject and found myself lying on the floor of the study... I quite like the cheery undertones of this unusually-angled macro shot.

21st May

The sky was very blue and clear this evening and the moon was out so I tried to get a shot of it. Not too bad I guess...

20th May

Things are still ridiculously busy so it'll be another week of subjects that aren't particularly fascinating unfortunately. Coming home late tonight I took a shot of my road under street lights. Again, quite atmopsheric, though I'm looking forward to some time off soon to take some more interesting photos.

19th May

Inexplicably, I went out today without the camera - not done that now for a long while. After a very pleasant day out in the sun, I came home to a moody sunset set against the ominous-looking black clouds. Just wish I'd taken the camera out with me...

18th May

Another busy Saturday today so I took to photographing from the window. I was also playing with the black and white setting on the camera again and got an unusual view.

17th May

I returned to the site of an old photo again today. The tree had started to grow leaves and looked a lot fuller than it did a month ago. Still pretty atmospheric shot though.

I'll not be going back to this place, however. As I took this shot, which I'm not 100% happy with, a voice came out of an intercom and asked if it could help me. I politely explained that I was photographing a tree (and therefore didn't need help...). The tinny voice then explained that I was photographing into an MOD site and that this wasn't allowed.

I'm a little confused as there are no MOD signs, or signs prohibiting photos. Still, don't think I'll risk trying that again...

16th May

It was foggy this morning. I like fog. It looks cool, but it doesn't photo well at all. What it does do is coat everything with moisture, so I got this shot of a very damp but well-highlighted spider's web.

Also, I broke my own record for taking a photo earliest in the day...

15th May

It's been a very busy week. Very, very busy. Still, I saw this quirkily cuboidal bush today so I took a photo of that. I'm not proud of the quality or anything really. If anything, at least this process is showing me that I have quite a busy life...

14th May

It was raining this evening so I didn't want to go out and take any shots. Instead, I took some shots out of the window and I think this one worked well, even showing up the rain in the light.

13th May

No ideas today, so I took this rather dull, if slightly quirky photo of the water in a vase of flowers. Sounds uninteresting? Yup. It is.

12th May

I returned to the spot of a previous photo today for a rerun. The last was taken in the dark and this one, taken at a similar time was in the light - it's definitely becoming Spring-like.

11th May

I went for a walk this afternoon and came across this old tree. It looked like it had been damaged, perhaps even by lightning, as there was a burnt end to the large logs on the ground.

I think it's set off nicely by the dark sky and windswept trees in the background.

10th May

Spring is continuing to bring colour to the trees, as well as bringing some sunshine and warmth. On the way home this evening, I stopped under a tree and took this photo of the blossom above me.

The sky is through there somewhere. I imagine that it'll be even harder to spot in a week or so.

9th May

I went swimming this evening and, having completed a lot of lengths, I left at about closing time. The car park was nearly empty and made for an interesting, atmospheric view.

I've actually been looking for this one for a few weeks, it's just that there have always been cars parked there until now. It pays to do lots of exercise...

8th May

I was wandering around quite late this evening looking for a subject for today's photograph. Turns out that I might be running out of subjects at home. I noticed this illusion crerated by a glass of water so took a photo of that...

Not my proudest photo. However, it's the best I have today!

7th May

We have some flowers at home at the moment, brightening the place up. They also made quite an interesting photography subject.

Monday 6 May 2013

6th May

This Bank Holiday Monday we went out for a picnic lunch. The sun was shining, the park looked beautiful and the food was tasty.

Sadly, lots of other people had worked out that it would probably be a nice day to be out for a picnic too.

Fortunately, there was enough space for us and I enjoyed taking this shot which I think encapsulates how nice the place was today as well as how people were enjoying themselves.

5th May

I went round to a friend's new place in London this evening. His flat is on the top floor of a four storey building, in an old house. The views out of the window on both sides of the building are of similar buildings, built close together, and the cars on the road which are also parked close together. I'm quite pleased with the nighttime shot, showing as much as I could fit in.

4th May

Another rush to take a photo this evening unfortunately. My resolution for the rest of May is to be less busy and think more about the photo process earlier in the day. Still, I do like the view from the flat, so it's worth photographing more than once...

Looking back, it's an interesting contrast to the photo from exactly a month ago.

3rd May

Spring is definitely here and has brought with it the sunshine. I wanted to capture the effects of the low Spring-time sun this evening so took a quick photo of myself. Well, sort of...

2nd May

With some free time this evening before my swimming session, I took a walk through the meadow at sunset. I got quite a few interesting snaps, and the light was constantly changing and particularly challenging but I think I'm quite happy with the result. There is even a twilight gathering of horses in the lower corner!

1st May

I love the colour of a blue sky. Today, on the way home, I saw a single aeroplane leaving a vapour trail across the blank blue canvass of the Spring evening's sky. I'm not sure that I captured it perfectly, but I just like the colour!
